It is a long transfer — an hour and a quarter of motorway on a good run, and genuinely two hours if you land into Friday afternoon. Anyone quoting you 50 minutes is quoting an empty road at 10am on a Sunday.

That length is exactly why the pricing model matters here. On a 90-minute metered run, traffic is the difference between a fare you expected and one you did not. Ours is set before you get in: your Gold Coast suburb and your vehicle decide it, and a jam on the Logan Motorway is our problem rather than a line on your invoice.

What it costs to each part of the coast

Fares rise as you go south, because you are travelling further. Published one way, per vehicle, tolls and GST in.

Where a private car beats the alternatives

There are three realistic ways to do this trip, and the right one depends on what you are carrying and how many of you there are.

• Train and tram is the cheapest and the slowest — Airtrain to Brisbane Central, the Gold Coast line, then the G:link. Two changes, luggage on your lap, and two hours and a bit before you factor the walk at the far end.
• Shared shuttle is cheaper than a private car for one or two people, at the cost of waiting for a full load and stopping at four hotels before yours.
• A private transfer makes sense from about three people, or with real luggage, or when you are arriving at 11pm and would rather be asleep than standing on a platform at Beenleigh.

Four people to Surfers Paradise in an SUV is $260 for the vehicle — $65 each, direct, with the driver already holding your name board when you clear the carousel.

Going the other way

The Gold Coast to Brisbane Airport leg is priced identically and is the direction that needs the most care, because a missed check-in is a missed flight. Allow 60 to 90 minutes from most Gold Coast suburbs via the M1 and the Gateway, and up to two hours in weekday peak. When we confirm a departure we recommend a pick-up time built back from your flight and its check-in cut-off, rather than leaving you to do that arithmetic at midnight.

Common questions on this route

Is the price really per vehicle?

Yes. A sedan to Surfers Paradise is $245 whether one person travels or three. The only things that change the number are the vehicle class and the suburb.

What if my flight lands late at night?

Same fare. There is no after-hours or night loading on any route we run, and late international arrivals into BNE are routine work. International arrivals also get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing rather than 30.

Can we stop on the way?

Usually yes — a supermarket stop before a self-catering apartment is a common request. Tell us when you book so the time is in the schedule. An unplanned extra stop on the day may attract a charge, and we will say so before applying it.

Do you go to the theme parks on this route?

How far ahead should I book?

Online bookings close six hours before pick-up. We recommend 24 to 48 hours for this route in particular, because it ties a vehicle up for most of three hours and the Sprinters go first in school holidays. Inside six hours, call us.
